Updating Account Details

Updated

Your name, phone number, and avatar live on the Account tab of Settings. Edits save by themselves - there is no separate "Save" button to click. Your email address has its own confirmation flow.

1. Open your account settings

  1. In the sidebar, find your profile button at the bottom - it shows your avatar, name, and email.

  1. Click your profile button. A small menu opens upward.

  1. Click Settings and the Account Settings page will open.

The Account tab has three sections stacked top to bottom:

  • A card with your personal details (name, phone, email, avatar)
  • Export Your Data
  • Close Account

The top card is the one you want.

2. Change your name or phone number

  1. In the personal details card, look at the three fields: Name, Phone, and Email.
  2. To change the Name field, do one of the following:
    1. Click the small pencil icon at the right end of the field, or
    2. Double-click anywhere on the field itself.

The field unlocks and the cursor jumps inside it, ready for you to type.

  1. Type your new name (or your new phone number, if you're editing Phone).
  1. Save your change by doing any one of these:
    1. Press Enter on your keyboard
    2. Click the check icon at the right end of the field
    3. Click anywhere outside the field

You'll see a small message pop up at the bottom of the screen saying "Name updated." (or "Phone updated."). That's your confirmation.

If you change your mind partway through typing, press Escape on your keyboard and the field reverts to what it was before. If you walk away from your desk without saving, the field auto-saves on its own after a few seconds of you not touching it.

Your name is also used as the legal name on personal-organization invoices, so renaming yourself here will change the name printed on those invoices from now on.

3. Change your avatar

Your avatar is the small picture next to your name. You have two ways to change it - upload your own image, or have the portal generate a random one for you.

Option A: Upload your own image

  1. Move your mouse over the avatar in the left side of the personal details card. You'll see an upload icon over the image- just click (on your avatar). You can also click the small pencil chip in bottom-right corner of the avatar.

  1. Your computer's file picker opens.
  2. Choose an image file. PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF all work.
  3. The new avatar appears on the page right away. A green "Avatar updated." message pops up to confirm.

Option B: Generate a random one

  1. Just under the avatar is a random button. Click it. The avatar changes to a new randomly-generated design.
  1. Each click gives you a new one, and each one saves automatically. Keep clicking until you land on one you like.

Where your avatar shows up

Your avatar appears anywhere the portal shows your account:

  • The profile button at the bottom of the sidebar
  • Activity feeds, when you're the person who took the action
  • Team member lists
  • Support ticks

Your profile image is not shown to other users (outside of staff) who do not share an organization with you. 

Profile pictures must not be explicit, illegal, or otherwise prohibited, and may be removed at our discretion.
