Getting Started

Logging In

Updated

The Synteq portal accepts three ways to sign in: email and password, a passkey registered on your device, or single sign-on through Google (with more identity providers to come). If you have two-factor authentication turned on, you'll be asked for a six-digit code right after your password, or SSO.

Sign-in happens against your personal account. Which organization you land in afterwards depends on what you were doing last, and your default organization.

Before you start

  • You need an account. If you don't have one yet, the login screen has a sign up link in the corner - click that first and come back.
  • For SSO, your Google account needs to be linked to your portal account already, or your organization needs SSO configured. See Connected SSO Providers.
  • For passkeys, you need to have already enrolled a passkey on this device on a previous visit. See Setting Up 2FA for the broader credentials setup.

1. Open the login screen

  1. Go to the portal's login URL in your browser.
  2. You'll see a centered card titled Welcome back.

The card contains, from top to bottom:

  • A field labelled Your e-mail. [1]
  • A field labelled Password [2] with a small Forgot password? [3] link above its right edge.
  • A Remember me for 30 days checkbox. [4]
  • A Login button. [5]
  • Below the button, a row of secondary sign-in options - a key icon for passkeys, and buttons for Google, and any other SSO provider that's supported. [6]

If you've never signed in before, you'll also see a small Sign up below the SSO login buttons - use that instead. [7]

2. Sign in with email and password

This is the most common path. Use it whenever you don't have a passkey enrolled or SSO set up.

  1. Click the Your e-mail field and type the address on your account.
  2. Press Tab or click into the Password field. Type your password.
    1. If you've forgotten it, click Forgot password? above the field. The portal will email you a reset link. See Resetting a Forgotten Password.
  3. If you're on a personal browser and want to stay signed in, tick Remember me for 30 days. Leave it unticked on a shared computer.
  4. Click Login.

The portal checks your credentials and, if they're good, sends you on to the next step.

If your email isn't verified yet

If you signed up but never clicked the verification link, the portal won't let you in. Instead of the dashboard, you'll land on a verify your email screen.

  1. Open the verification email from your inbox.
  2. Click the link inside.
  3. Come back to the login screen and try again.

If you're rate-limited

If you've typed the wrong password too many times in a short window, the login form will refuse to accept new attempts for a few minutes - you'll see a brief "too many attempts" message under the button. Wait it out, then try again. If you don't actually remember the password, use Forgot password? instead of guessing more.

3. Sign in with a passkey

If you've enrolled a passkey on this device, you can skip typing your password entirely.

  1. On the login screen, find the key icon button to the left of the Google button. Please click it.

  1. Your browser or OS will pop up its own prompt - fingerprint, Face ID, Windows Hello, or your hardware security key. Authenticate the way you normally do.
  1. Once it accepts, the portal signs you in immediately - no password, no 2FA prompt, no second step.

If the passkey prompt doesn't appear, your browser may not have a matching credential for this site. Fall back to email and password.

4. Sign in with SSO

If your organization signs in through Google, or another identity provider, the buttons below the password form are your shortcut.

  1. Click the matching button - for example, Google.
  2. You're redirected to the provider's own sign-in page.
  3. Authenticate there (enter your email, password, and any of the provider's own 2FA prompts).
  4. The provider bounces you back into the portal automatically.

If this is the first time you've used SSO with this account, the portal will link your provider identity to your account during this flow. After that, the same button signs you in every time.

5. Enter your 2FA code

If your account has two-factor authentication enabled, the Welcome back card swaps to a Two-step verification card right after you submit your password. (passkey logins skip this step.)

The card shows:

  • A single six-digit code input, with each digit in its own box. [1]
  • A Back button on the left. [2]
  • A Verify button on the right. [3]

  1. Open your authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, etc.).
  2. Find the Synteq entry and read the current six-digit code.
  3. Type or paste it into the input on the portal.
  4. Click Verify.

Codes rotate every 30 seconds. If yours is rejected because it just expired, wait for the next one and try again - don't keep retrying with the old code.

What you land on after signing in

The portal signs you in to your personal account, then drops you into whatever you were last looking at:

  • First-time sign-in, or your last visit was in your personal organization > you land in your personal organization's dashboard.
  • You belong to several > you land on your default organization's dashboard.

Once an organization is loaded, the sidebar fills in: org switcher at the top, projects in the middle, your profile button at the bottom. If you ticked Remember me for 30 days, this browser stays signed in for the next month unless you sign out manually or revoke the session from Signing Out Other Devices.
