If you belong to more than one organization, the portal only shows one of them at a time - the active organization. Everything you see (projects, servers, invoices, team members) all comes from that one organization. To work on a different organization, you switch.
If you only belong to one organization, you don't really need this page. The switcher still shows up, but there's nothing to switch to.
1. Find the organization switcher
- Look at the sidebar on the left side of the portal.
- At the very top of the sidebar, just under the Synteq logo, there's a button showing your active organization's name with a small building icon next to it.
That's the organization switcher. It always shows whichever organization is currently active.
2. Open the dropdown
- Click the switcher button.
- A dropdown opens directly underneath it, listing every organization you belong to.
You may see some markers on the rows. Here's what they mean:
- Default badge: this is the organization that loads automatically when you sign in. There can only be one default at a time.
- Lock icon: this organization requires two-factor authentication. If you don't have 2FA on your own account yet, switching into it will pop open an enrollment prompt first. See Setting up 2FA.
- Small notification dot: this organization has something waiting for you, like a pending invoice or an order to finish. The active organization's pending items also show as a dot on the closed switcher button itself, so you can spot them without opening the dropdown.
3. Pick the organization you want
- Click any row in the dropdown.
- The portal reloads. The sidebar, projects list, billing, and team page all switch to the data for the organization you picked.
You'll stay in this organization until you switch again. Closing and reopening the browser doesn't reset it - the portal remembers which organization you last had active.
Setting a different default organization
The default is the one the portal opens to when you sign in. You can change which one is the default.
- Click your profile button at the bottom of the sidebar - it shows your avatar, name, and email.
- A small menu opens upward. Click Organizations.
- The Organizations page opens with the full list of organizations you belong to.
- Find the organization you want as your new default. On the right side of its row, click the Set as default star button.
The Default badge moves to that row immediately. The change applies the next time you sign in - it doesn't switch the currently active organization right now.
If you only belong to one organization
The switcher still appears at the top of the sidebar, but the dropdown only shows that one organization plus a New organization action at the bottom. There's nothing to switch to until you create or get invited to another one.
