Changing Your Password

Update the password on your account from the Security page. You'll need your current password to do this - if you don't know it, use Resetting a forgotten password instead.

1. In the sidebar, find your profile button at the bottom - it shows your avatar, name, and email.

2. Click on your profile, a small menu will open upward.

3. Click Settings to navigate to your account settings page.

4. Along the top of the page, click the Security tab.

1. In the Change Password card, you'll see a placeholder-only password field showing •••••••••••• and an Update password button to its right.

2. Click Update password. A dialog will then open with three fields.

1. Current password: type your existing password. Use the eye icon on the right of the field to reveal what you've typed if you want to double-check.

2. New password: type your new password. It must be at least 8 characters.

   1. A thin colored bar under the field gives you a rough quality reading: red is weak, yellow is okay, green is strong.
   2. You'll get the best score by combining length, mixed case, digits, and at least one symbol.

3. Confirm new password: type the new password again. If the two don't match, you'll see "Passwords don't match" error message below the field.

4. Click Update password at the bottom of the dialog. The button stays disabled until all three fields are valid.

You'll see a green "Password updated successfully." confirmation back on the Security page.

Changing your password does not sign you out anywhere else. If you changed your password because you suspect someone else got into your account, also see Signing Out of Other Devices, which will walk you through revoking all sessions (including yours) and forces a fresh sign-in everywhere.

Cancel the dialog and click Forgot password? at the bottom-left, or go directly to /forgot-password. The portal will email you a reset link. See Resetting a forgotten password.
